WINES FOR THE CURE Special Collection This is a fundraiser for North Carolina Lung Cancer Partnership. During the month of October 2009, the Winery at Iron Gate Farm and the NC Lung Cancer Partnership are launching four new wines: Free to Breathe, Look Deeper, Ribbons of Hope and Survivor Spirit. Our goal is to help raise much needed funds for lung cancer research and awareness. Nearly twice as many women die each year from lung cancer than breast cancer. There is currently no approved screening test for lung cancer. The North Carolina Lung Cancer Partnership is a non-profit organization dedicated to decreasing deaths due to lung cancer and helping patients live longer and better through research, awareness, and advocacy. It is the first state chapter of the National Lung Cancer Partnership, the only lung cancer advocacy organization founded by physicians and researchers working together with survivors and advocates. WINES FOR THE CURE Free to Breathe – Clear and bright, this wine displays a dry, fruity nose and a taste of Granny Smith apple and citrus, ending with soft, dry vanilla. Try it with salmon or other seafood and fresh salads. Bottle Price: $16.00    Look Deeper – A classic Bordeaux of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with aromas of tobacco and spice, black cherry dances across the palate to a smooth and comfortable finish. It provides a nice balance to dishes like Steak au Poivre, grilled veal and lasagna. Bottle Price: $21.00    Ribbons of Hope – A ‘sweet white’ blend of Niagara (50% Native American grape) and Carlos (50% muscadine), this wine intrigues the nose with white grape floral and rose tones while honeysuckle eases over the tongue. The finish is a soft, oaky apple. Enjoy for dessert, with dessert, or with a French bread and cheese or Rome apples. Taste like the grapes you plucked from your grandma’s vine.
